46 hours to catch a racoonSep 16, 2008
I set the trap at sunset and checked it 6 hours later to find that I caught the racoon that I had been trying to keep away from my koi pond for almost a year. I bought a small Havahart trap to catch chipmonks in about 1958. It was a good quality trap, so, 50 years later I decided to give them another try. I was pleased with the quality and ease of use. But most of all I was delighted that it solved my problem in hours. The only thing to be critical of was that the instructions did not match the product. It looked like they upgraded the product with an additional catch and they put the trip wire on the outside, but did not update the written instructions. This is no big deal because setting the trap is intuitive enough that reading the instructions takes longer than just playing with it. The racoon bloodied her paws and scraped off some fur in the several hours that she was in the trap. I don't know that Havahart could have prevented that.

5Havaheart TrapJul 31, 2008
Great product came completely assembled ready to use. Had a family of 6 racoons living under my deck and was able to trap them all in a matter of 7 days catching two small ones at the same time. I was able to remove them safely thanks to the metal shield that covered the handle that prevented the racoons from either biting or scratching me. Easy to bait and set, even caught the neighbors cat one night although he was released safely and went right home. Sure beats spending $500.00 to $600.00 dollars to have a professional come and set the same trap only to have me call him when it goes off so he could come and take the animal to the woods. Again great highly effective product which included instructions on which baits to use to catch different animals.*****stars

Very good trap from Havahart. Excellent customer service from the factory as well. Quality construction.

Will easily trap anything up to a small dog.

The live trap was as discribed, and arrived very quickly. It is easy to set up and has a very light triggering device. I was using it to catch a large possum that was raiding my duck house and getting the eggs. I used an egg for bait the first time, and I caught a duck that laid another egg in the trap LOL??? Anyway it worked the second set, no more egg eating possum.
