Squirrels love my squirrel stumperMay 06, 2008 This is a really nice bird feeder, but don't depend on this technology to keep squirrels out of your birdseed. The squirrels hang upside down with their feet and reach for the seeds. It just takes them a little longer to eat all the birdseed.
Does not stump squirrels. At all.Mar 31, 2008 For $10 at Walmart, it's a decent buy as a durable metal high-capacity feeder, but it does not live up to its name, the "Squirrel Stumper." From what I see, it doesn't deter squirrels one bit. The only way you can make it squirrel-resistant is to hang it from a long thin wire that squirrels can't climb down, and place it away from any other branches that they could jump from. Seeing as how you could do this to any feeder, It doesn't make this feeder any more squirrel-resistant than other, less expensive feeders.
Looks like the squirrels will still be eating my sunflower seeds until I can find a feeder that's advertised truthfully.
Quality product and price is just!Dec 19, 2007 Quality product and price is just!
I tied to the bottom a small plastic flower saucer as a platform to prevent seeds from falling on the ground, and also - to provide better place for perching of bigger birds, such as cardinal. The feeder works perfectly, and birds love it. And squirrels couldn't get the seeds from the container - the metal frame is very strong and all outer parts are made from metal. A squirrel once managed to get on the saucer and had seeds from it. But I replaced the rope with a very thin wire, and now it looks completely squirrel proof and resistant. Good product and price is just - I bought it for $10 in Wal-Mart.
